Getting Started

Before you can sign up to the online modules, you will need a FA Number (FAN) This is your unique code where all your details will be stored by the FA, including any. qualifications you eventually achieve.

If you are a player, coach, manager, etc then you will already have a FAN. If you can’t remember what your FAN is please let us know, please do not create a new account. Please email Support@GloucestershireFA.com with your name, date of birth, postcode and if playing for a club let usknow which club. We can then check if you have a current FAN.

If you have had no previous involvement in football, you will need to create a FAN.  However, if you play for a team youth or adult the club you play for will know your FAN so maybe worth an ask to the club.

What if I am Under 18?

No problem! You can still create a FAN account – you will just need to make sure that it is linked to the FAN of your parent or guardian. (Please see below). Again if your son/daughter is someone who is playing for a youth team then the current club will also have a parent FAN so again worth asking.

With U18 Accounts, you may hit some issues, however the below link will help with any ‘trouble shooting’

What happens next?

Once you have your FAN, you can access the online modules. The link is below. Please read it through carefully as it gives you all the information you need to get you started.  The most important thing is that you complete the modules using the log in details of the person intending to take the referee course, not that of a parent or guardian.

There are five sections (modules) to work through and it will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. Videos are used throughout to demonstrate how the Law should be applied and there are activities to reinforce all the key points. There are some questions at the end of each module, all of which must be answered correctly to successfully complete the learning.

I’ve completed the online modules – what happens next?

You’re now one step closer to getting yourself on a refereeing course, but there’s one final thing to complete: the ‘Safeguarding for All’ training. Safeguarding young people is our No.1 priority and every coach, manager and referee in the country is required to complete safeguarding training.

Again, this is free of charge and can be done online. It is accessed via this link.

Remember to complete this using the FAN details of the person intending to do the refereeing course.
